How a travel influencer in Mexico is using Where App to create itineraries worth hundreds of dollars
Welcome to the first edition of the Where.App newsletter! You're (hopefully) one of our 1,000+ beta users. We'll be highlighting more user stories, insights, and waylines going forward.
Meet Tim (Bluesky/ Website): a travel influencer creating gay-friendly travel guides across Mexico, who is beta-testing Where App.
Tim is one of over 1,000 beta users helping shape the future of geo-powered travel content. And here’s the cool part:
He can soon monetize his movement by selling curated travel itineraries for $100+ each on Where App (even up to $500, depending on the niche).
In the past, that meant stitching together blog posts, pen-and-paper notes, and clunky Google Maps, and watching a million YouTube videos. But now, Tim can accomplish the following using Where App:
Build Waylines passively: map-powered itineraries with photos, notes, and stops on a beautiful map (shown below). Simply continue with your normal travel activities, such as walking, biking, or taking the train, and let Where App track your movements.
Create thematic guides, such as bar crawls or weekend walks.
Attach photos and visuals directly to routes for a personalized touch.
Share, sell, and package Waylines directly to other Where App users.
He even pitched us this workflow (paraphrasing):
“Let me upload my field notes and research to Where App, and it can automaticall generate a sellable map guide from it.”
And we’re building exactly that in the next version of the app.
What Tim asked for and what we’re building
Tim’s wishlist has become part of our future roadmap:
Upload field notes (including scribbles) directly into the system using Wherebot.
Auto-create guides from real-life movement.
Tag and annotate places mid-trip.
Monetize with exclusive access.
Creators like Tim want one thing: to focus on discovery, not logistics. Where App handles the memory, mapping, and monetization.
The tech corner: Local-First done right
Under the hood, we’ve shipped major updates to support our vision:
Local-First sync using ElectricSQL + PGlite.
Structured querying via TanStack DB.
Full-screen UI with perfect scroll snapping.
Seamless integration between desktop and mobile. Online or offline.
Wherebot upgrades using MCP/A2A protocols for AI agents.
This is architecture built for creators who live on the move, but want control, speed, and most importantly, data privacy.
